How To Figure Out Ring Size So They Will Never Find Out!
In preparing to pop the big question, it is good to have a general idea as to what your lover’s ring size is. If you don’t know what their ring size is… don’t stress! Most often, whether you do know your significant other’s ring size or not, slight sizing adjustments will need to be made, especially in trying to keep your proposal a surprise! If you’re looking to learn how to figure out ring size, we at Cline jewelers are here to help with some tips and tricks to go about sneakily determining your lover’s ring size and lay the groundwork for the perfect surprise proposal!
One option would be to ask one of her friends. Chances are she may already have sized herself, maybe with a friend, or shared the measurement. Try asking one of her close friends if they know her ring size. If her friends don’t hold the key another great person to consider asking is her mother! Mothers always seem to keep hidden tabs on their children and she just might have the ring size info you’re looking for! Although these excellent resources may not have the answers on the tip of their tongue, you could recruit her mother or friends to help you nonchalantly get her ring size. On the other hand, if you have sneaky skills you could check out her jewelry box for rings she may already wear. You may need to do a little recon to see if she has a ring she wears on her ring finger. Look at you, you sly cat!
Guys and Gals… Are Men and Women Ring Sizes the Same?
Are men’s and women’s ring sizes the same? It’s a great question, and fortunately, the answer is yes! Unlike typical sizing metrics that change like men’s and women’s pants and shoes, the ring sizing system for men and women abides by the same measuring units. Thank goodness, because it sure makes determining the perfect ring size for your lover so much easier! Thanks to sharing common ring size metrics, finding, purchasing, and re-selling rings for either a man or woman whenever necessary is an easy process once you know the proper size you’re looking for!
Fingers & Toes… Does Your Ring Size Match Your Shoe Size?
Does your ring size match your shoe size?! Myth busted! There is no evidence to support the claim that your ring size correlates to your shoe size… although there may be a funny coincidence every once in a while. For a proper and exact ring measurement, we’ll always encourage you to stop into Cline, where one of our jewelry experts would be happy to size your finger for a ring that is sure to fit perfectly each and every time!
All About the Budget… How Much Does It Cost to Size a Ring?
At this point, you're probably wondering how adjusting the size of a ring will affect your bank account. Don't worry! A quick and simple measurement and ring resizing won’t break the bank! If you’re looking to figure out your size, we will measure you here at Cline Jewelers free of charge. Ring sizing starts at $50. In rare cases, more complex and unorthodox ring designs with elaborate bands can be re-sized for a slightly higher fee depending on the metal and complexity of the job.
A Little Too Big… Can a Ring Be Sized Down?
So you’ve found the perfect ring design that you know you’d say “Yes” to, but it’s far too big for your finger and you’re wondering if it can be sized down a bit to make for the perfect fit. Great news! A ring can be sized down quite easily! To make your ring smaller, our jewelry professionals here at Cline will make a careful and meticulous splice into the ring’s shank and remove a small portion from the band. After this small portion of the band’s metal is successfully removed, the two ends are then soldered back together. Now soldered, the ring will be cleaned and polished for a smooth and brilliant finish. Does your ring need to be made a bit larger? No worries, we can do that, too!
How to Measure Ring Size at Home? Use our Ring Size Chart!
You might not have the time to come into Cline Jewelers for sizing, but there are still ways you can figure out your lover’s ring size. Although we do recommend bringing all of your ring sizing questions and needs to our team here at Cline, we do offer our very own printable ring size chart for you to utilize if you’re looking to determine how to measure ring size at home in the most accurate manner.
Use the paper or string to wrap around the base of the ring finger. Not too tight or too loose! You want the ring to be comfortable and not cut off circulation. Once you wrap your string or paper around the finger, use the marker to mark where the end meets the middle of the paper or string. Now use the ruler to measure how long this distance is in millimeters. For a more exact size, you can repeat this process several times and find an average of all the numbers found.
Ring Size Chart (cm.)
There are two ring sizing metrics, one being in the metric system. Measure the circumference of the ring finger in millimeters (mm) and find the corresponding ring size. This ring size chart makes it easy to explore the various ring sizes and pick which one works best for you.
Ring Size Chart (in.)
On the other hand, you can measure ring sizes in inches in the U.S. customary system, again measuring the circumference of the ring finger and finding the corresponding ring size. Whether you use the metric system or the U.S. customary system, you are sure to find a size that fits.
